5 Eco-Friendly Practices
At Smalltown Table, we are committed to creating healthy gift boxes and spa packages that are not only luxurious and effective, but also environmentally responsible. We believe that using organic and all-natural ingredients is just the beginning of our eco-friendly journey. Here are five other practices that we have begun implementing to reduce our impact on the environment:
-
Sustainable packaging: We use eco-friendly and biodegradable materials for our gift box packaging, such as recycled paper or cardboard, reusable fabric bags, or compostable materials. By doing so, we reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. The soap sack is a customer fave!
-
Energy-efficient operations: We use energy-efficient appliances and lighting in our workspace, and encourage our employees (and teenagers) to conserve energy by turning off lights and electronics when not in use. By reducing our energy consumption, we lower our greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a more sustainable future. It also saves money!
-
Carbon offsetting: We calculate our company's carbon footprint and offset it by planting trees. This way, we take responsibility for the emissions that we cannot eliminate entirely, and help fund projects that benefit the environment.
-
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle: We minimize waste by using reusable containers for our products, recycling materials such as cardboard and paper, and encouraging our customers to recycle or reuse our packaging. This way, we conserve natural resources and reduce pollution.
-
Local sourcing: We source materials from local producers whenever possible to reduce transportation emissions and support local businesses. Many small businesses are learning to reduce our dependence on global supply chains. We love that through Etsy we save using Eco-enclose. We will be using them for everything soon. They are all about planet-friendly packaging.
A few things we do all the time...
COMPOST - In our backyard....Look for an upcoming social media post to see our DIY one we use now. But we will work up to this baby:
GROW HERBS - Herbs grow pretty easily where we live, but Grandma has one of these in NY and it rocks!
RECYCLE - Of course, we do recycle but it always seems like there is so much cardboard from packaging of things we need. Can't wait to see how we evolve, just waiting for Elon Musk to think of something.
